The Alliance
Française
of Toulouse is an association ruled by the 1901’ law. It is integrated
in the network of the 1050 other Alliances of the world and is part of
the Alliances of France. This last network has about 20 organisations,
only 8 of them offer teaching.
We are in Toulouse, which is one of the biggest economic and cultural centres
in southern France. Toulouse is the 4th town of France. It has 400 000
inhabitants for an urban area of 1 000 000 people, 2nd university town
(150 000 students and 10 000 searchers) and constitutes an important aeronautic
and space centre (1st centre for both in Europe, 2nd world-wide for space
after Los Angeles). Our school has 700 m² in the middle of the town,
welcomes every year 2000 people of more than a 100 different nationalities
and proposes courses of French for foreigners and courses with specific
aims. Our team of teachers is specialised in the field of “ French
as a Foreign Language ” and integrates in the everyday work class
the Information and Communication Technologies (TIC). We have 2 rooms equipped
with a computer network of 20 computers with an ADSL high-speed link.
Our experience of integrating the tic in the teaching / learning French
for foreigners is not new. We created in 1999 the didactic CD-ROM “ Dites-Moi
! ” Volume 1 & 2 proposing to foreign students to learn French
actively through the everyday French life (Dites-Moi !)
We set up in 2001 “ AF Toulouse Net ” (http://af-toulouse.net),
educational information on the net offering to teachers, free of charge,
workshops to unable them to integrate the tic in their work class. We also
train teachers in the multimedia field adapted to the FFL. We developed
training actions with : the French Embassy in the United States, the French
Institute of Barcelona, the Alliance Française of Madrid…
A complete description of our school can be seen on the Website of the
